Porosity Types

What is Porosity?
How well your hair absorbs or mal-absorbs moisture (water) and chemicals ( relaxers or hair colorants) into the hair strand.

High Porosity
:
Characteristics-
  • After washing, the hair is dry after towel drying
  • The hair lacks an adequate amount of protein
  • It's difficult to keep the hair moisturized for longer then 1-2 days
  • When introduced to water it quickly becomes saturated
  • It's chemically altered and over processed by way of relaxer and or hair coloring
  • It's mechanically damaged due to over styling, heat styling, and over manipulation
  • This hair tangles easily and has a dull appearance
How to "Manetain"-
  • Practice the RBR regimen consistently
  • Cold rinse the hair after washing out your conditioner
  • Use a microfiber or cotton towel to dry the hair
  • Seal moisturized hair with an oil or hair butter that contains Tucuma or Murumuru Butter
  • Refrain use of relaxers and unnatural permanent hair colourants
  • Refrain from heat styling and hair manipulation
  • Perform protein treatment as needed (listen to your hair, it will tell you when)
  • Use a moisturizer that contains aloe vera juice or gel or has a PH of 4 - 5.5
Are you High?
Take a clean strand of your hair that is completely product free and place it in a clean glass of water. If your hair sinks to the bottom, you have high porosity hair.
